Every wedding is different but no matter what your style most couples end their wedding day with a party! And most couples will choose either a live band or a DJ for their big party! And most couples will want their dancefloor full and they’ll want a party that everyone remembers for all the right reasons!
Hosting a fabulous destination wedding in France means that you have the choice of some fabulous DJ’s and Wedding bands! We asked some of our most popular bands to tell us what songs they would never, ever leave out of their party set list!
FORTUNE Band WOW their audiences at weddings and events around the world, with music from classic soul & Motown to current chart hits.
They told us that ‘Our repertoire varies depending on the clients requests and where they are from. However, we find these songs go down a treat: Treasure-Bruno Mars, Ain’t Nobody- Chaka Khan, September- Earth, Wind and Fire, Love Never Felt so Good- MJ. These are usually songs that keep the guests on their feet and dancing!
IF we had to pick one….the winner for FORTUNE would be ‘Uptown funk- Bruno Mars‘
Soul Candy & The Candies are an Anglo/French band where you can choose from an all-girl trio right up to a full 8-peice band! “Our repertoire and audiences are very different; international audiences on a cruise will have different favourites to UK wedding guests here in France and The Candies most popular songs will differ from those of Soul Candy.
If we had to choose, one song that is universally loved is My Girl-The Temptations. For the end of the party it could be a tie between I Gotta Feeling-Black Eyed Peas or Dancing Queen-Abba. Overall huge favourites are Uptown Funk-Bruno Mars and I Feel Good-James Brown. (But I’m already thinking of all the other great songs that should make the cut!)
Jam Hot perform all over the world, and as a result, we perform a huge variety of genres that cross over really well for international audiences.
The aim is of course to play well loved hits that get people on their feet no matter where they’re from, so it’s important to choose artists that are globally known and adored the world over.
If they had to choose one song that always makes the Jam Hot cut it would be Beyoncé’s Crazy In Love; as soon as our horns take centre stage and blast out the opening riff, everyone goes insane and breaks into booty-shaking dance moves – that’s what a party is all about!
Award winning duo, Adel and Karina at 2 of Harps, perform across the UK, France and tour internationally.
Choosing one song from their repertoire (which not only covers almost EVERY genre, but also has over 600 pieces of music) was a difficult task! And they perform during all aspects of a Wedding Day (from the ceremony to the party) so their choice reflects this too!
They told us, the music we perform at weddings really depends on the music tastes of our couples and their guests. But wherever we are performing in the world, there are a few songs we really love to add to our set and recommend to our couples.
1. Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens – from the love story motion picture ‘Call Me By Your Name’, simple but stunning and perfect for the wedding ceremony.
2. Songbird by Eva Cassidy – truly beautiful and ‘heart swelling’ a beautiful piece sung and accompanied by the harp during the wedding drinks reception, or our Twilight set after the wedding breakfast.
3. I Giorni by Ludovico Einaudi – or any piece by this inspiring composer. We love performing our harp duet covers of his modern classical music which adds a romantic touch to any wedding breakfast.
There are many more songs which would easily make 2 of Harps top three and their favourites change regularly, depending on new music and music that they discover!
